Job Description

The Bot Intelligence team builds the tools that provide important insights to the trustworthiness of traffic flowing into our systems. Our capabilities use machine learning, serverless, streaming analytics capabilities and data analysis to build a platform that provides powerful insights into understanding the true sources of our request flows. The team is small, providing for the nimbleness and flexibility needed to stay ahead of threat actors.

You have a passion for the problem space – needing to understand a significant range of knowledge around Content Distribution Networks, analytical tools, network protocols and behavior, authentication and authorization systems. You will work with many teams across the organization both engineering and operational to gain the insights required to understand the problem space as well as monitor the effectiveness of our solutions.

You Will:

  • Build and maintain a near real-time streaming analytics application built on an array of AWS technologies including but not limited to lambda functions, managed apache flink, and vendor solutions.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our labeling and ML model development.
  • Help manage and maintain our systems across build, deploy, and production monitoring,
  • Computer languages as we use Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, PySpark and others as needed or appropriate.
  • Evaluate and build integrations with vendor systems that may be used in addition to in-house solutions.

Experience with bot/fraud identification and mitigation systems is a strong plus.

Qualifications

You Have

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience developing scalable production software incorporating testing, evaluation, and monitoring.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficient in Java, Javascript, Typescript, and Python.
  • Proficient in data analysis using SQL and Spark
  • Experience implementing and maintaining applications in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem built on Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and other systems

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400
Zone B: USD $155,400 - USD $233,200
Zone C: USD $147,300 - USD $220,900
Zone D: USD $139,000 - USD $208,600
