Spiritus is seeking a Materials R&D Scientist to accelerate the development of sorbent materials. The role will have responsibility for developing synthetic methods to enhance critical sorbent performance characteristics, develop analytical methods and QA/QC diagnostics, and ensure the sorbent is cost-effective, durable, and manufacturable. The position will be a key member of the materials development team and report directly to the CTO.

Compensation Range: $120K - $175K
Spiritus is seeking a Materials R&D Scientist to accelerate the development of sorbent materials. The position will be a key member of the materials development team and report directly to the CTO.
The candidate will:
- Work as part of a team in a fast paced rapidly changing environment to establish research direction and priorities.
- Develop scalable and manufacturable synthetic methods to improve sorbent performance characteristics.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop and explore R&D concepts.
- Interface with internal engineering resources and partners to refine/improve DAC system concepts.
- Interface with the Director of Manufacturing and manufacturing resources to refine and improve sorbent manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Work as part of a team to develop diagnostics for sorbent characterization, and rational manufacturing quality assurance and control.
- Experience in polymer chemistry, synthetic organic, and/or main group chemistry.
- Experience in materials development, characterization, and manufacturing.
- A PhD in chemistry, materials science, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
