Scribd’s Global Partnerships team is responsible for strategically building a broad and diverse library of high-quality content to create value for and engage our subscribers in key territories around the world. The team is seeking an experienced deal-maker to help develop our content strategy and to identify, sign-up and manage important new publishing partnerships. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, data-driven deal-maker and strategic thinker, reporting to the Head of Global Content Partnerships.
You Will:
• Negotiate, close and manage key new catalog completion publishers in these territories around cost targets to be defined and opportunistically negotiate ad hoc special terms and promotional discounts.
• Manage catalog by territory against key benchmarks (new release delivery at or near street date, bestseller %, titles prominently reviewed)
• Analyze consumption in key markets and acquire additional target publishers based on demand
• Oversee ongoing partner / publisher business reviews and management
• Lead Internal publisher management with Product, BSA (optimizing relationship, publisher pacing, publisher book links, special promotion as well as other Scribd divisions)
You Have/You Are:
• 10+ years of experience in digital media, book publishing, or other content-centric industry in business development, strategy, and partnerships.
• Familiarity with common content licensing business models.
• Strategic and critical thinker in the pursuit of new business and partnership opportunities.
• Strong managerial skills with expertise in hiring and coaching a team of content licensing professionals and business developers.
• Strong negotiating skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Excellent presentation skills, especially at VP-level and above.
• Strong business modeling skills (Excel), and familiarity with data analysis tools like Tableau

• Affinity for and experience in start-up or fast-growth environments that are high-energy, cross-functional, and highly collaborative.
• Willing and eager to shift focus, adapt strategies, and revise goals on short notice.
At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States.
In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $125,000 [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California] to $202,500 [maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California].
In the United States, outside of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $106,500 [minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California] to $200,500 [maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California].
In Canada, the reasonably expected salary range is between $133,500 CAD[minimum salary in our lowest geographic market] to $198,000 CAD[maximum salary in our highest geographic market].
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership, and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
