We’re looking for a Communications Manager to develop and execute a strategy that elevates Scribd’s unique points of consumer difference to help increase brand awareness and consumer consideration. Key responsibilities include ideating, managing, and executing programs that highlight Scribd’s mission, Original content consumer-facing programs while increasing product review consideration and consumer sentiment around Scribd’s subscription service.
This is a high-impact role that will be responsible for building our brand awareness through the execution of integrated campaigns while storytelling the importance of our corporate vision: to inspire the world through stories and knowledge.

About the Team:
This role is an integral part of the Scribd Communications team, a dynamic group of professionals who are passionate about sharing Scribd’s vision and mission with the world. Set within the marketing department, we are aligned with company priorities and support a shared goal.
An important company function, the Communications team currently oversees corporate and consumer global brand storytelling, crisis response and reputation management, influencer marketing, and developing communications campaigns to launch and support Scribd’s original content.
About You:
You thrive on developing and executing strategies in a constantly evolving environment.
You have a deep understanding of and experience in positioning subscription services or other intangible consumer goods (i.e., telehealth) in consumer media; a strong grasp of developing compelling consumer positioning and messaging; experience managing external support including freelancers, consultants, and agencies; and the ability to articulate objectives and specific needs to stakeholders at every level.
You are a master at working holistically, creating seamless plans and messages that resonate and are nuanced for different audiences.
You are a creative, energetic team player who has strong media relations and writing skills and is an expert at identifying storytelling trends and developing and nurturing relationships.
You are passionate about excellence in writing and verbal communications and thrive in a collaborative environment, rolling up your sleeves to the job done.
You have worked with private and public companies and understand the challenges inherent in messaging each.
You are a world-class communicator with a passion for pitching and a finger on the pulse of current PR tactics, as well as an interest in leveraging emerging communications platforms to create impactful consumer messages.
You Will:
Lead Scribd’s consumer PR agency to define, develop and oversee execute strategies that generate high-quality media placements in the consumer media space
Develop and strengthen relationships with key reporters, bloggers and influencers in the general consumer, publishing and consumer technology spaces to generate interest in reviewing Scribd’s core product and original content releases
Develop and execute brand and influencer events, partnerships and media engagements
Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns to support original content launches in the US and Mexico
Act as a main point of contact for internal stakeholders to develop consumer launches in partnership with the brand and product marketing teams
Refine our reporting and analysis processes
Increase the brand’s consumer awareness across earned media channels.
Increase product review consideration and consumer sentiment around Scribd’s subscription service.
Execute programs that highlight Scribd’s mission
Develop Original content consumer-facing programs
You Have:
12+ years experience in PR, preferably for a consumer-facing technology company, agency or fast-paced environment
Ability to set strategy, and then execute flawlessly
Experience of successfully generating consumer awareness for startups -- bonus points for those who have worked with brands in the subscription, publishing, or entertainment industries
Ability to communicate complex topics effectively
Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with an ability to juggle multiple priorities quickly
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; bonus points for fluency in Spanish
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related fields a plus
At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $101,500 [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California] to $160,750 [maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California].
Outside of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $89,000 [minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California] to $152,750 [maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California].
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership, and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
