ABOUT THE TEAM
The Production Engineering team at Rubrik is responsible for ensuring the availability and reliability of mission-critical platforms operating across large-scale, multi-cloud environments. We act as the backbone of operational excellence—owning incident response, outage, observability, and continuous improvement.
The team works in close collaboration with SRE and Engineering teams to proactively identify risks, reduce operational toil, drive outages and build resilient systems. We operate in complex, high-pressure scenarios, applying sound technical judgment while continuously improving through learning, ownership, and accountability.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Engineering Manager for Production Engineering, you will lead and grow a high-impact team responsible for maintaining highly available, business-critical services. You will spearhead the technical roadmap, strategy and execution, while serving as a senior escalation point during major incidents.
You will set the vision for the team, while coaching engineers to operate with confidence in high-pressure environments. This role requires strong technical depth, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to continuously improve system reliability and operational maturity.
What you’ll do
- Lead Production Engineering team supporting critical infrastructure and services across multi-cloud environments. This role requires you to work in EST timezone (4:00 PM – 1:00 AM IST).
- Own operational excellence for production environments by establishing strong processes, standards, and accountability for availability and reliability.
- Champion a metrics-driven culture of continuous improvement, driving initiatives to improve operational KPIs such as MTTA/MTTR.
- Foster a strong collaborative mindset working closely with leadership to align operational priorities with business goals and reliability targets.
- Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and career development, while enabling senior contributors to operate at maximum impact.
- Plan and manage on-call rotations, escalation models, and resource availability to ensure sustainable support for mission-critical systems.
- Establish strong execution rigor through sprint planning, prioritization, and accountability, holding teams to high standards of delivery and performance.
Experience you’ll need
- A passionate leader who is obsessed with building technically strong teams and has 12+ years of Software Development experience and 3+ years in Engineering Management roles.
- Experience hiring, building top talent teams.
- Experience in delivering enterprise-quality scalable Distributed Systems with high quality standards.
- Preferred: Experience leading SRE teams to drive operational excellence across large-scale, multi-cloud production environments through strong processes, metrics, and reliability-focused practices.
- Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
- Experience working with cross-geo global engineering teams.
- Have a track record of effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
