About the Team

Active Directory team is part of the Enterprise Data Protection (EDP) team at Rubrik, responsible for building Active Directory data protection. The team is responsible for building data protection solutions for Active Directory like backup, restore and integrating AD as an Identity Provider into Rubrik’s security platform.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Active Directory Development team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing data protection solutions for Active Directory. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software development background, preferably expertise in Active Directory and related identity technologies, and proven leadership capabilities to guide a team of skilled developers and engineers.

What you'll do

  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Active Directory developers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
    • Manage the software development lifecycle for Active Directory related projects, including sprint planning, code reviews, and ensuring adherence to development standards.
    • Conduct performance reviews, set clear objectives, and support the career growth and skill development of team members, particularly in areas of secure coding and modern identity protocols.
    • Manage team workload, prioritize development tasks and projects, and ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Software Development:

    • Oversee the design, development, testing of Active directory data protection solution.
    • Manage customer engagement and scale the development team to handle accelerated customer adoption.
    • Architect and develop integration solutions between Active Directory and Rubrik's security platform.
  • Strategic Planning and Innovation:

    • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to define the roadmap for Active Directory development initiatives, aligning with overall business and technology strategy.
  • Operational Excellence and Support:

    • Provide technical leadership and escalation support for the customer issues.
    • Maintain the component in healthy state, minimise regressions.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed software, APIs, and processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate effectively with other engineering teams, security teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
    • Clearly communicate project status, risks, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.

Experience and qualifications you'll need

  • Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software development and IT.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering management role, overseeing software development teams.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Strong proficiency in distributed systems, data storage concepts.
    • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and their interaction with Active Directory.
    • Strong proficiency in Active Directory or Entra-ID concepts will be preferred.
    • Experience in working with Microsoft Windows eco-system will be preferred.
    • Solid understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts and any exposure to IAM services like OKTA, AWS IAM will be preferred.
    • Knowledge in identity(Users, groups, roles, NHI etc) security is a plus.
  • Leadership and Management Skills:

    • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and grow a team of software developers and engineers.
    • Strong understanding of software development methodologies.
    • Experience in working with the customers, sales, and support.
    • Strong project management and organizational abilities, with experience managing multiple development projects simultaneously.
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
