About the role
Rubrik is seeking a Data Privacy Compliance Specialist to support and enhance our organization’s privacy program. The ideal candidate will have experience in implementing and auditing privacy management activities aligned with various privacy management accountability frameworks (“PMAF”). This role involves ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations and maintaining robust data protection practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across procurement, engineering and product management, commercial legal, and information security, both domestically and internationally, to achieve critical business goals within regulatory frameworks.
What you'll Do
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits as necessary.
- Assess and monitor data privacy compliance of third-party vendors and service providers.
- Regularly monitor data handling practices to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce internal data privacy policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and organizational objectives.
- Maintain documentation to demonstrate compliance and accountability.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of personal data processing activities, including data flows and classifications.
- Document and oversee data transfer mechanisms for cross-border data flows, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Lead and manage internal privacy reviews, including assisting engineering and data governance teams with data mapping, processing activity documentation, and impact assessments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement solutions reducing privacy risks while improving regulatory adherence.
- Develop and deliver privacy training programs to educate internal stakeholders and ensure awareness of privacy responsibilities.
Experience you'll need
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in data privacy compliance, preferably with exposure to the PMAF.
- Strong expertise in global data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA) and industry standards.
- Familiarity with data mapping, risk assessments, and privacy audits.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across the organization.
- Certification such as CIPP-E, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP preferred; Juris Doctor (JD) is an advantage.
Skills required
- Deep knowledge of IT, SaaS, or cloud service providers' compliance challenges.
- Knowledge of information security principles and practices.
- Proficient with privacy tools, including OneTrust for data mapping and assessment automation.
- Basic understanding of cookies and martech systems.
- Strong communication skills to articulate complex privacy concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
