In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in the Bay Area and New York City. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors). In 2025, Roofstock took an ownership stake in Casago (short-term rental management services), expanding our platform to support both long-term and short-term rental investment services.

About the Role
Roofstock is looking for a Director of Recruiting to continue scaling and building the recruiting function. This person will be responsible for the strategy and vision of the recruiting function while supporting company-wide growth and development and driving accountability. This person will lead a high-performing recruitment team, deliver best-in-class candidate experience and drive innovative recruitment solutions to continuously build Rooftock’s team. This person will be data-driven, with the ability to push the strategy and continuously uplevel the recruitment experience, but internally and externally at Roofstock. This role reports to the Chief People Officer.
Responsibilities
Leadership: The Director of Recruiting will exercise leadership over the recruiting department, overseeing the execution of all recruiting activities. You will lead the team to deliver an exceptional candidate experience and drive results in response to fluctuating hiring needs. You will be deeply invested in the team’s growth, supporting their professional development through ongoing coaching and mentorship.
Collaboration: The Director of Recruiting plays a highly collaborative role, working closely with the C-Suite, senior and executive leaders. You will need to build strong cross-functional relationships and build trust at all levels of the organization. You will also work closely with the finance department to guide workforce planning and budget allocation. In addition to business collaboration, you will also work closely within the Talent and Culture team members, including Strategic Initiatives, People Ops, and People Business Partners to regularly provide insights that impact the business inclusive of training, internal movement, career-path creation, and so forth.
Strategy: The Director of Recruiting leads the design and implementation of business-wide recruiting processes, applicant tracking systems, management reporting, and vendor management. This person will develop innovative sourcing strategies and procedures and ensure a consistent and positive candidate experience, while increasing the prospects of acquisition and retention of talent for the business.
Analytics: The Director of Recruiting will be data driven and provide ongoing, monthly and quarterly reports showcasing the results, impacts, and cost-effectiveness of the current recruiting strategies. This person will use this information to identify trends and adjust the recruiting strategies in order to optimize the impact of the recruiting team.
Knowledge: The Director of Recruiting has the responsibility of providing direction and consultation to the business on emerging trends and best practices that impact and influence talent acquisition and attraction within key talent segments. This role may also require executive level recruitment for specific high-need, high-profile roles within the company.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of full cycle recruitment experience, preferably as a senior recruiter in a highly competitive and dynamic start up environment.
- At least 5 years of experience leading high-performing recruitment teams
- Dynamic people leader
- Ability to translate business goals and external trends into innovative and creative talent strategies
- Experience driving Employer Brand preferred
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization
- A strong technical acumen and data driven approach to recruitment

Location
This position is classified as HYBRID within the greater Oakland Area with an expectation to be in-office on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly.

Compensation
$180,000 - $230,000 range on annual base salary. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.
Pay Transparency
Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors. Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only a part of our total compensation package.
