MANUFACTURING

Rocket Lab’s Manufacturing team are the builders and the doers who work with our advanced machinery across our global manufacturing sites to get our satellites, satellite components, and rockets out the door. They bring the designs of our engineers to life by using advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D printing to create our hardware and are responsible for delivering our projects and missions on time and on budget to our customers.

AVIONICS ENVIRONMENTAL TEST TECHNICIAN I/II

Based onsite at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, California, the Avionics Environmental Test Technician I/II will be working on the electrical and electromechanical assemblies of the Electron Launch Vehicle avionics, Rutherford Rocket Engine, and Photon Satellite Components. Testing will include a wide range of satellite and rocket components, from radios to space batteries, actuators to network switches, and cameras to transducers.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Day to day tasks will involve functional testing, bench testing, vibration, and environmental testing.
  • Technical capability with testing apparatus is critical to ensure all components are tested to the appropriate levels to be accepted for spaceflight.
  • Ensure all components meet performance and quality requirements.

(This position can be hired as an Avionics Environmental Test Technician I or Avionics Environmental Test Technician II Level)

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS AN AVIONICS ENVIRONMENTAL TEST TECHNICIAN I:

  • 2+ years of experience in electronic component assembly for aerospace applications
  • Experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.
  • Experience with vibration tables, thermal environment chambers, and vacuum chambers highly preferred
  • HS Diploma or GED.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS AN AVIONICS ENVIRONMENTAL TEST TECHNICIAN II:

  • 5+ years of experience in electronic component assembly for aerospace applications
  • Experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments.
  • Experience with vibration tables, thermal environment chambers, and vacuum chambers
  • HS Diploma or GED.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with in-space electrical assemblies
  • Experience with LabVIEW
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing process and continued product development
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with Anechoic Chamber
  • Experience with TVAC chambers
  • Excellent time management skills, and the ability to work overtime and long hours if needed.
  • Eye for detail, as well as a methodical, tidy, and careful work ethic
  • Natural inclination towards software and IT systems
  • Industry or trade certified

Avionics Environmental Test Technician I: $20/hr-$30/hr

Avionics Environmental Test Technician II: $25/hr-$35/hr

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Base salary is only one part of Rocket Lab’s compensation package for this role. You may be eligible for company stock, stock options, or cash incentives, and can purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab’s Employee Stock Purchase Program.
