PROPULSION ENGINEER II/SENIOR PROPULSION ENGINEER

Based out of Rocket Lab's our headquarters in Long Beach, CA. The Propulsion Engineer II/Senior Propulsion Engineer is an amazing engineer with a passion for building next generation, highly reusable launch vehicles that will expand the space economy, but can't find a role that is a good fit for you in our career’s listings? You will support the Neutron and Archimedes teams, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors. 

Please NOTE: This requisition can be hired at the Propulsion Engineer II level or Senior Propulsion Engineer level.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:  

  • Design, analyze, test, fly, and refly next generation propulsion hardware 
  • Work with an experienced team of propulsion experts to develop high performance, reliable, and low cost hardware. 
  • Work with manufacturing teams to support fabrication, design for manufacturability, and resolve issues that may arise during hardware build. 

PROPULSION ENGINEER II, YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: - Note: Candidate must meet every qualification in order to be considered  

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent 
  • 2+ years of experience in relevant engineering field. 
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, fluids and structural mechanics 
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical design principals 

SENIOR PROPULSION ENGINEER, YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:  – Note: Candidate must meet every qualification in order to be considered  

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent 
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant engineering field. 
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, fluids and structural mechanics 
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical design principals 

 

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:  

  • Proficiency in GDT 
  • Professional experience with NX, Ansys, and other commercial analysis software packages 
  • Experience with propulsion systems design, analysis, test, operations, and/or manufacturing 
  • Experience in a scrappy development environment 
  • Experience with best practices for design, qualification and production 

BASE PAY RANGE:  

Propulsion Engineer II: $85,000-$120,000 

Senior Propulsion Engineer: $120,000-$160,000 

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. 

In addition to base salary, Rocket Lab offers a comprehensive total compensation package based on individual qualifications and experience, which may include cash or equity incentives. Employees will also be eligible for medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan options, and to purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab's Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Base Pay Range (CA Only)
$85,000$160,000 USD
