About the role

Strategic growth for Rocket Lab is currently focussed on the expansion markets for Electron and with that, exploring sub-orbital launch opportunities. The variant of Electron targeted at this work is branded HASTE.

Delivering HASTE requires significant modifications to the baseline Electron, both in vehicle changes, and mission specific customer interfaces. Successful execution of these opportunities requires a proven project manager to coordinate technical delivery in NZ across functional work streams, manage on time delivery, and ensure appropriate resourcing.

Rocket Lab has a geographically disperse team with distributed areas of expertise that are required to work together efficiently on the delivery of key programmes. This role will be required to wear many hats and take a hands-on/direct approach to managing projects through from concept through to delivery. The role also comes with a requirement for direct interface with internal and external stakeholders across NZ and the USA, therefore, maintenance and growth of relationships is critical to success



Essential skills

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change management.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace engineering principles on space systems or satellites. Comprehensive understanding of satellite design, systems engineering, propulsion systems, and other key concepts.
  • Ability to communicate and adapt effectively with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, inspire, and mentor team members.
  • Ability to analyze data, comfortable working with large datasets and has a strong analytical mindset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality management processes, including quality control and quality assurance.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and implement them. Ability to think creatively and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems
