Qualified candidates will have experience with the following:

  • Design and development of GNC Software, particularly:
    • 6DOF simulator development and validation.
    • Flight software including core GNC algorithms.
    • Auto-sequence design, implementation and verification.
    • Unit tests and software integration tests.
    • Data processing and automated generation of reports.
    • Other new software products that may be initiated.
  • Develop, review and approve software requirements.
  • Monte-Carlo, pre-flight, launch-day and post-flight analysis.
  • Vehicle parameter modelling/prediction and/or configuration control.
  • Review software merge requests and ensure all new GNC Software meets our internal software standard.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to aid the efficiency of the GNC Team.

Launch and HITL operations.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D. in Electronics, Software, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience developing in C/C++ including some embedded or high reliability development
  • 3+ years’ experience developing in Python or MATLAB
  • A good theoretical and/or practical understanding of rigid body dynamics
  • Experience with flight simulator or flight software development for UAV’s, rockets or spacecraft
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics and/or closed-loop control systems
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Experience with Git version control
  • Experience working in a continuous integration environment
  • Experience with Simulink
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum based workflow
