About the role
Rocket Lab operates maintains several three engine test facilities across facilities in the Auckland and Waikato regions for Rutherford engine testing.. The engine test cells within these facilities require maintenance and support, as well as continuous improvement to the software tooling to assist Test Engineers complete engine testing faster and more efficiently.

The Test Support Engineer will be involved in all aspects of the engine test cell and test rig setup s and maintenance, including from configuration, initial setup, continuous improvement, and support for the operators running the test. They will also be involved in setup, maintenance and improvement of engine test data analysis tools (Tableau), databases (SQL and Postgres) as well as test automation tools such as National Instruments Teststand.

The position will require learning a broad range of knowledge across software systems, as well as an understanding of the electrical, and mechanical and fluid systems the software controls, to assist our engineers be fiercely efficient.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Experience working directly with Engineering or R&D teams.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Can work alone at remote sites and has a “can do” attitude
  • Networking and firewalls.
  • Preparing test scripts – manual and automated, using languages such as Python.
  • Linux-based systems.

Desired Skills

Experience with:
o Preparing and maintaining test plans and test cases in accordance with engineer specifications.
o Preparing test scripts – manual and automated, using languages such as Python.
o Networking and firewalls.
o National Instruments – Test Stand.
o Tableau.
o SQL and Postgres.
