Field Service Engineer
Location: Chanhassen, MN (Travel Required)
Salary: $85,000–$105,000+ Base Salary + Bonus + Overtime Potential
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers with industrial automation systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and process control solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical challenges, customer interaction, and working with advanced automation technologies in a variety of industrial environments.
This role will focus heavily on DeltaV Distributed Control Systems, including system configuration, commissioning, startup support, troubleshooting, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting industrial customers and will serve as a trusted technical resource, helping solve complex automation challenges while building strong long-term customer relationships.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, working directly with customers, and applying their technical expertise across industries such as chemical processing, refining, ethanol, food and beverage, pulp and paper, and other manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure, commission, and troubleshoot DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Support customer startups, system modifications, upgrades, and optimization projects.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to DCS systems, instrumentation, PLC interfaces, industrial networks, and control system infrastructure.
- Perform system troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, cybersecurity updates, and technical improvements.
- Support PLC integration, Ethernet/IP networks, and industrial communication systems.
- Perform loop tuning and control system optimization.
- Configure and support Microsoft Windows-based industrial systems and virtual environments.
- Provide technical recommendations and develop solutions to meet customer needs.
- Train customer operators and maintenance teams on system functionality.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and documentation.
- Support digital transformation initiatives and identify opportunities to improve customer operations.
Travel Requirements:
This is a true Field Service Engineering role requiring approximately 65% travel to customer sites throughout the region.
Travel is typically structured as:
- Local customer visits throughout the month with the ability to be home most nights.
- Approximately one week per month requiring overnight travel.
- Occasional extended customer project support.
Candidates must be comfortable working independently at customer facilities and serving as the primary technical contact.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of DeltaV configuration experience.
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Experience with commissioning, startups, troubleshooting, and system modifications.
- Industrial manufacturing or process industry experience.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues in the field.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 65% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive base salary:
- $85,000–$95,000 for early-career candidates
- $105,000+ for highly experienced candidates
