Job Summary
The Assistant Quality Manager supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving quality systems, processes, and compliance standards within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with quality assurance activities, laboratory operations, audits, process improvement initiatives, and the supervision of quality personnel to ensure products meet established quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in managing and maintaining quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Support the technical operations of the quality laboratory, including equipment optimization and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate and manage calibration programs for inspection and testing equipment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to quality engineers, technicians, and production personnel.
- Oversee process control requirements for manufacturing equipment and related operations.
- Support internal and external quality audits and assist in maintaining compliance with applicable quality management systems and standards.
- Participate in scrap reduction, cost savings, corrective action, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and direct quality personnel responsible for inspecting incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Ensure quality standards and specifications are consistently met throughout production processes.
- Communicate safety, quality, and productivity concerns and trends to management and production teams.
- Assist with investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to quality issues.
- Participate in special projects focused on process improvement and product quality enhancement.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a materials processing or industrial production setting.
- One to two (1–2) years of experience in a quality-related role, such as Quality Technician, Quality Supervisor, or similar position within a quality management system environment.
- Strong understanding of quality control processes, quality metrics, and process parameters.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with statistical analysis software.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop timely and effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
