Industrial Controls Engineer – Vision Systems

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Motion Control & Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support advanced automation systems used in manufacturing and industrial equipment environments.

This role will focus on PLC programming, motion control systems, servo integration, machine vision systems, robotics, and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, hands-on commissioning experience, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control systems for automated manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, and motion controllers
  • Develop synchronized multi-axis motion control systems
  • Implement and maintain machine vision systems for quality inspection and process validation
  • Integrate robotics, sensors, actuators, and industrial communication networks
  • Perform commissioning, startup, tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated equipment
  • Support manufacturing and maintenance teams with technical expertise
  • Optimize machine performance, cycle times, reliability, and efficiency
  • Create electrical schematics, control narratives, and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with machine safety standards and electrical codes
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and new equipment development

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or motion control systems
  • Strong experience with PLC programming and industrial control system design
  • Experience with servo systems, stepper motors, encoders, and drive technologies
  • Hands-on experience with machine vision systems and vision software
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profinet
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and control drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for equipment startup and customer support

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics integration and automated manufacturing systems
  • Knowledge of safety PLCs and machine safety standards
  • Experience with CAD or electrical design software
  • Familiarity with packaging, CNC, material handling, or precision manufacturing equipment
  • Exposure to machine learning applications in vision systems
  • Project management experience is a plus
