Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations within a CNC machining environment to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals are consistently achieved. This position oversees machining personnel, coordinates production schedules, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and drives operational efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical machining knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage production priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day machining and production activities across assigned shifts.
  • Lead, coach, and support CNC and manual machinists to maintain a productive and accountable team environment.
  • Manage workflow and production priorities in a high-mix, low-volume machining environment to meet customer deadlines.
  • Monitor machine performance, production progress, setup efficiency, and part quality to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and planning teams to resolve production, technical, or scheduling challenges.
  • Support tooling selection, setup optimization, and process improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, quality standards, and workplace policies.
  • Maintain accurate production reporting, labor tracking, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Promote and participate in Lean manufacturing, 5S, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist with employee training, development, and performance management initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of machining experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory, lead, or team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, machine setups, tooling, inspection methods, and machining best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical work instructions.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience motivating, mentoring, and developing manufacturing teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
