Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead day-to-day production activities on the shop floor. This role is responsible for driving operational performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost while building and developing a high-performing team.
This is an ideal opportunity for:
- A current Production/Operations leader, or
- A Manufacturing/Process Engineer ready to step into leadership
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily shop floor operations, including team meetings, production execution, and staffing
- Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (waste reduction, standard work, process optimization)
- Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met efficiently
- Coach, develop, and hold team members accountable for performance and safety
- Provide feedback, conduct performance reviews, and manage disciplinary actions when needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and training teams
- Monitor and manage labor efficiency, overtime, and workforce planning
- Support a strong culture of safety, quality, and compliance
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Engage with customers as needed on product quality, testing, and process-related matters
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business, or related field)
- 4+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- (or 8+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in lieu of degree)
- Proven experience driving Lean / Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace or automotive manufacturing background
- Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems
- Experience with thermal processing, coatings, or specialized manufacturing processes
- Background in process engineering or manufacturing engineering
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Plant Manager
