The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities within a high-volume sheet metal manufacturing facility supporting aerospace and automotive production. This role ensures optimal equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and drives continuous improvement in maintenance processes, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and support a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on:
  • Stamping presses (progressive & transfer dies)
  • CNC equipment, lasers, and fabrication machinery
  • Robotics and automated systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
  • Ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of production equipment
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production to minimize disruption
  • Implement and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Maintain compliance with aerospace (AS9100) and automotive (IATF 16949) standards
  • Enforce safety policies, including OSHA and company-specific procedures
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Analyze equipment performance data and implement corrective actions
  • Assist in installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • Equivalent experience will be considered

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics
  • Electrical systems (PLC troubleshooting preferred)
  • Stamping presses, dies, and tooling
  • Familiarity with CNC machines, laser cutting, and robotic systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma principles
  • Preferred Skills

    • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
    • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
    • Experience in sheet metal, stamping, or fabrication operations strongly preferred
    • Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing highly desirable
