Industrial Maintenance Supervisor
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager
Department: Maintenance
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance operations within a manufacturing or industrial facility. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment, facilities, and utilities by supervising maintenance technicians, managing preventive maintenance programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians across assigned shifts
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues
- Coordinate equipment repairs to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency
- Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and capital projects
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company standards
- Manage maintenance work orders through CMMS systems
- Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for critical components
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Monitor maintenance KPIs including downtime, MTBF, and maintenance costs
- Assist with budgeting and cost control initiatives
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong background in mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred), hydraulics, and pneumatics
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of OSHA, LOTO, and safety best practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in high-speed manufacturing (automotive, food & beverage, packaging, etc.)
- Lean manufacturing or TPM experience
- Experience with robotics and automation systems
