Quality Engineer

Industry: Aerospace Precision Machining

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support aerospace precision machining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet strict aerospace quality standards, driving root cause analysis, leading corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have experience in tight-tolerance machining environments and strong familiarity with aerospace quality systems and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary quality liaison between customers and internal production teams
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards including AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Review and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) packages
  • Support PPAP submissions and new product introduction (NPI) requirements
  • Investigate nonconforming material and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities
  • Issue and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs/VCARs)
  • Perform internal audits and workstation process audits
  • Analyze quality data and trends to reduce scrap and improve process capability
  • Review engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturability and compliance
  • Develop inspection plans, quality alerts, and standard work documentation
  • Support customer audits and regulatory audits
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and leadership to improve quality and productivity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 2+ years of experience in a precision machining or aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of:
  • GD&T interpretation
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5-Why, etc.)
  • PFMEA and Control Plans
  • Capability Studies and Gage R&R
  • Experience working under AS9100 quality systems required
  • NADCAP experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to analyze statistical data and apply problem-solving techniques
  • Must meet U.S. person requirements under ITAR
