Job Description
RingCentral is looking for an experienced, practical telecommunications regulatory and policy lead to join our growing team in India, with 12+ years of telecommunications regulatory experience to join our legal team. This individual will work on domestic telecommunications regulatory matters for cutting edge cloud communications services in India. Services include VoIP, videoconferencing, online messaging, contact center, and other cloud-based services. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic international legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
This is a full-time position located in Delhi, India and will report into the global Head of Regulatory based in the US.
Responsibilities
Bring a business-savvy approach to advocate for telecom regulation for Internet Telephony services, and other telecom laws and regulations in India that affect RingCentral
Oversee telecommunications regulatory and similar filings of RingCentral India, working with other teams to obtain and maintain, as necessary, telecommunications licensing (where applicable) and ongoing regulatory compliance
Provide thought leadership and strategic advice on launching a voice and video conferencing service, working directly with senior corporate leadership in India and the US
Advise product managers on regulatory changes or issues which might impact product design
Stay informed of industry-specific legislation/regulations and works with stakeholders to ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are implemented
Participate in development of plans and provides assistance to internal clients in response to newly passed legislation and regulations; also assist with evaluation and development of proposed legislation and regulations
Participate in rollout of new technology and new products, such as VoIP, videoconferencing, online messaging, and other cloud-based services
Where required, manage local counsel on jurisdictional telecom-related projects in India
Requirements
Typically, 15+ years of telecommunications regulatory, with experience in cloud communications or a related industry
Legal qualifications not strictly required
Experience managing the expectations of aggressive functional teams in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organization and planning skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Team management experience
Ability to work well with individuals across cultures.
Ability to collaborate and function well in a team environment and communicate effectively with senior management
Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision
Fluent in Hindi and English, additional languages a plus
