We’re seeking a seasoned Director of Information and Cybersecurity to lead and scale our security strategy. This role will protect QuantumScape’s critical information assets, ensure compliance, manage cybersecurity risks, and foster a security-first culture across the enterprise. You'll coordinate both IT and OT security environments and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our unique IP. You will manage networks across a global footprint.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
• Define and implement a company-wide information security strategy aligned with business and compliance goals.
• Advise senior leadership team on emerging threats and security posture.
• Champion a strong security culture across the organization.


2. Program & Risk Management
• Build and lead the security program, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and audits.
• Ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and regulatory requirements.

3. Security Architecture & Operations
• Lead the design and implementation of security solutions across IT and OT environments.
• Integrate security into SDLC and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Guide secure cloud adoption (Azure, GCP, SaaS, etc.), software, business applications, and infrastructure hardening.


4. Incident Response & Resilience
• Own the incident response plan and lead investigations.
• Establish disaster recovery strategies to support business continuity.


5. Team Leadership
• Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing security team.
• Promote security awareness and accountability across teams.


6. QuantumScape-Specific Focus
• Protect proprietary IP.
• Secure supply chain and partner ecosystems.
• Bridge IT and industrial/operational technology (ICS/SCADA) environments.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12+ years in cybersecurity with 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Deep understanding of security technologies, IT/OT infrastructure, and cloud security.
• Hands-on experience building enterprise security programs.
• Strong knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, and related frameworks.
• Superb communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience
• Security leadership in manufacturing, R&D, or high-tech industries.
• Familiarity with battery technology or ICS/OT environments.
• Experience with security automation and orchestration.
• Certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CRISC highly preferred.

ONSITE: This opening entails work onsite 5 days per week to meet the duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and engineering operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is crucial in this role to build authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is $192,300- $307,700, and a salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
