QuantumScape is seeking a visionary and execution-focused Director of Information Technology to lead and evolve the company’s IT operations, infrastructure, end-user services, and enterprise systems in support of our mission to revolutionize energy storage. This role is pivotal in driving scalable and secure IT capabilities across R&D, manufacturing, and enterprise environments. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with strong business acumen, leadership, and a passion for enabling innovation through technology.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring stability, security, and scalability across all systems and services.
• Drive strategic initiatives around digital transformation, automation, and cloud-first infrastructure.
• Develop and execute IT roadmaps that align with QuantumScape’s business objectives, security posture, and rapid growth.
• Partner closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and G&A functions to understand technology needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Manage IT service delivery, including helpdesk, endpoint management, collaboration tools, and network operations.
• Lead vendor and contract management, license compliance, and budget planning.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory standards in close collaboration with the Information Security team.
• Build and mentor a high-performing IT team with a culture of agility, ownership, and innovation.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
• Strong background in enterprise IT infrastructure, network, SaaS/cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Workspace), on-premise, and endpoint management.
• Experience supporting both office and lab/manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and tools.
• Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects and build alignment across technical and non-technical teams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or relevant cloud certifications are a plus.
• Experience with tools and technolgies such as MS Office 365, JIRA, ManageEngine, Palo Alto, Cisco, ThreatLocker etc.

Preferred:
• Passionate about enabling innovation and supporting a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Hands-on when needed but highly strategic in thinking.
• Comfortable operating in a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment with both legacy and cutting-edge systems.
• Strong understanding of IT’s role in a pre-commercial manufacturing and R&D organization.

This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $182,700 to $255,800, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
