Description:

We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to be an integral part of our team, contributing significantly to the advancement of all-solid state battery technology. In this role, you will collaborate closely with equipment suppliers to design and operate tools, fine-tune process variables for optimization, and facilitate the smooth transfer of the stabilized process.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development, establishment, and scaling up of processes for all-solid-state battery electrodes.

  • Assess material properties, using physical analysis techniques and electrochemical testing.

  • Calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and minor repairs of the process tools.

  • Improve scalability by automating manual procedures and adapting equipment for efficient process scale-up.

  • Participate in design and safety reviews to comprehend technical specifications of equipment.

  • Create and implement test methods, including powder rheology testing, product mechanical testing, and microscopic imaging, to analyze product characteristics, material quality, and process feasibility.

  • Facilitate the transfer of processes to manufacturing by developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and conducting training sessions for engineers and technicians.

  • Establish documentation and procedures for product sampling, testing, and data tracking systems.

  • Utilize excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate closely with internal and external collaborators.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Material Science, Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering or MS degree plus 3 years of related experience

  • In depth knowledge in electrochemistry and material science

  • Hand-on experience in device fabrication and characterizations

  • Love working closely with a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Rely on data to make technical decisions and ability to clearly explain technical issues

  • Well organized, attention to details and high project management skills

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in the battery industry

  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical design

  • Demonstrated expertise in hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical systems

  • Proficient programming skills and statistical analysis


This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role is between $143,100 and $229,000 and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
