We are looking to add a Cell Process Technician (Level 3) to our Cell Engineering and Process Development team. This individual will be responsible for supporting Engineering on developing tools and techniques at the cell assembly level to improve the manufacturability of our solid-state lithium-metal batteries. This work includes building cell assemblies with both new and existing procedures for testing and validating various manufacturing processes. Experience working with electrochemical energy storage devices such as lithium-based batteries or similar technology is highly desired.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the development of new cell assembly procedures and designs by building, testing, and providing feedback on proposed processes.

• Build cells according to current, baseline procedures for testing purposes. Help to refine and improve existing cell assembly tools and techniques for manufacturing scale-up by offering feedback on baseline builds.

• Support engineering by running experiments and evaluating multiple different approaches based on their performances.

• Execute, innovate, and provide feedback on cell assembly procedures including lead trimming, welding, and laminate pouch sealing

• Become familiar and comfortable with running automate machinery for various build steps

• Collaborate with cell component design teams, equipment design teams, cell mechanical design teams, safety, quality, metrology, and production teams to execute your mission.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience building and testing prototypes or products

• Experience with DOE style experimentation

• Familiarity with working in a manufacturing environment

• Competent in safe laboratory practices especially in handling powders, solvents, and chemicals

• High school diploma and a minimum 3 years of experience

• Knowledge of lithium-ion battery science is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills

• Sitting or standing for extended periods of time

• Reaching and twisting motions with hands

• Lifting up to 25 lbs

Compensation & Benefits: Compensation range for this role is $27-40 per hour, but a final rate will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background.
