Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate – Next Generation Sequencing

The heart of Prellis Bio’s strategy is the combination of novel, cutting edge methods in machine learning, biology at scale and next gen antibody discovery that address long-standing industry-wide problems in the drug development pipeline. Prellis Biologics uses proprietary technology to 3D print human lymph node organoids enabling the rapid & diverse discovery of human antibody therapeutic candidates for a range of applications. To drive this forward, we are assembling an incredible team of discovery biologists, computational scientists, and protein scientists who want to make a difference to this important problem.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate – Next Generation Sequencing (Contract) to join our NGS team working at the interface of therapeutic biologics discovery and cutting-edge technologies. This position will play a key role in executing single-cell and repertoire-level NGS workflows, high-throughput expression, and R&D projects.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on in molecular biology and sequencing workflows, comfortable with routine bench execution, and eager to work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment focused on rapid antibody candidate identification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute high-throughput VH/VL sequence recovery and expression workflows.
  • Perform RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, PCR amplification, library preparation, and Illumina sequencing for deep repertoire capture.
  • Own QC and analysis of experimental data; prepare clear written summaries and present findings.
  • Maintain high quality scientific records, support workflow optimization, and uphold lab safety and data integrity.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical support through proactive communication.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and scalability efforts for high-throughput sequencing pipelines

Qualifications

  • B.S in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology, or related life science field with 4+ years of experience, or M.S. with 2+ years of relevant experience in an industry or equivalent research setting.
  • Strong hands-on-experience with NGS workflow, including library generation, QC, and sequencing.
  • Experience with operating and maintaining Illumina sequencing instruments.
  • Experience with lab automation systems or liquid handlers, such as Biomek and Lynx.
  • Working knowledge of immune repertoire sequencing and analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to contribute to multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document, interpret, and present experimental results clearly.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating across various scientific disciplines in a dynamic environment.
  • Good understanding of therapeutic antibody discovery process.

Compensation and Details

  • Contract position, with the potential for extension or conversion to full-time based on performance and company needs.
  • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible scheduling options within standard lab hours.
  • Onsite work environment in Berkeley, CA.
