Who we are:

Peripheral is developing spatial intelligence, starting in live sports and entertainment. Our models generate interactive, photorealistic 3D reconstructions of sporting events, building the future of live media. We’re solving key research challenges in 3D computer vision, creating the foundations for the next generation of robotic perception and embodied intelligence.

We’re backed by top investors, including Khosla Ventures, Daybreak, and Entrepreneurs First, and working with some of the biggest names in sports. Our team includes top robotics and machine learning researchers from the University of Toronto, advised by Dr. Steven Waslander and Dr. Igor Gilitshenski.

Our team is ambitious and looking to win. We’re seeking a senior machine learning engineer to lead our research into real-time, arena-scale 3D reconstruction.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Research and development of a real-time 3D reconstruction system for live production,

  • Leading and providing technical mentorship for team members, establishing best practices

What we need to see at a minimum:

  • Research-based Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field

  • Past research experience with neural rendering (NERFs, Gaussian Splatting, etc),

  • Strong understanding of computer vision fundamentals (camera calibration, multi-view geometry, etc)

  • Previous industry experience, training, and deploying ML models for computer vision (object detection, segmentation, tracking, etc),

  • Expert-level proficiency in C++ and Python for high-performance systems development,

  • Previous experience leading research teams,

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Previous research in large foundational feed-forward vision models,

  • Proficiency in CUDA programming and PyTorch for deep learning model optimization and deployment,

  • Knowledge of classical graphics concepts, including rasterization, lighting, and shadow generation,

  • Contributions to open-source computer vision projects or frameworks,

  • Experience for a full product cycle, from research to production-level code.

  • Top publications at conferences like NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, WACV, CoRL, ICRA,

Why join us:

  • Competitive equity as an early team member.

  • $150K-300K CAD + bonuses, flexible based on experience.

  • Exclusive access to the world’s biggest sporting events and venues,

  • Ownership of impactful projects, developing the future of 3D media and spatial intelligence.
