Openwater is developing open-source medical technologies to diagnose and treat hundreds of diseases, including cancer, stroke, and mental illness. Our pre-market products are supported by extensive clinical data, and we operate as the world’s first open-source, open-patent, and open-clinical-data company. Candidates should be aware that our products are in the pre-market phase and are not yet FDA cleared.
Position Overview
Openwater is seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our Sales team. The SDR is essential to the growth of our company by driving awareness and pipeline development for our innovative medical devices. This role provides the opportunity to introduce cutting-edge open-source healthcare technology to the world’s leading research universities, medical centers, and health organizations.
You will own the early stages of the sales process, proactively engaging new prospects, qualifying leads, and setting up meetings. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Product, and Community teams to understand our products, mission, and clinical value proposition.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and research prospective customers within the research community at universities, medical centers, and health organizations.Perform cold outreach via email, phone, and social media to introduce Openwater’s solutions and qualify interest.Schedule and set up qualified meetings between prospects and team members.Develop personalized messaging that conveys the unique value of Openwater’s open-source approach and clinical impact.Track all activities and progress using CRM tools.Collaborate with the Sales and Community teams to refine outreach strategies.Maintain a feedback loop with Product, Clinical, and Engineering teams to share insights from customer interactions.Maintain clear and accurate sales reports and performance metrics in Hubspot to ensure transparency and accountability.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience1+ years of outbound prospecting or SDR experience, preferably in medical devices, healthcare, or a similarly technical industry.Passion for transformative healthcare technology and an eagerness to make a positive impact for patients worldwide.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling outreach messages.Persistence, creativity, and determination in cold outbound efforts.Organized, detail-oriented, and proficient with CRM and productivity tools.Comfortable navigating complex organizations and engaging a range of stakeholders (clinicians, execs, technical buyers).Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Preferred SkillsExperience in the medical device, healthcare technology, or related clinical sector.Familiarity with Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, or similar sales tools.Background in open-source, research, or early-stage tech environments.
