About the Team

OpenAI’s People team is dedicated to creating exceptional employee experiences and enabling the movement of world-class talent across the organization. Our Global Mobility function plays a key role in making this possible, helping employees relocate, transfer, and navigate immigration with confidence and care. You’ll join a small and high-impact group that collaborates closely with Recruiting, Legal, Payroll, Tax, and Workplace teams to support global hiring and talent transitions.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Talent Mobility Specialist to help elevate and scale our global relocation and mobility programs. This programmatic individual contributor role is based in New York City and works closely with our mobility vendors. You’ll be the go-to expert for relocation logistics and talent mobility support, ensuring smooth and personalized experiences during high-stakes transitions. Over time, you’ll also contribute to policy development, vendor performance tracking, and scalable global strategies that make OpenAI a more agile and globally integrated organization. This role reports to our Global Mobility & Immigration Manager based in San Francisco.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Relocation Support

    • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for employee relocations, partnering closely with our Relocation Management Company (RMC).

    • Coordinate across internal teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, IT, Workplace) to ensure smooth transitions and address relocation needs.

    • Own key employee touchpoints throughout the relocation journey, escalating and resolving issues to ensure a high-quality, employee-first experience.

    • Track and evaluate vendor performance, using feedback and data to recommend process or service improvements.

  • Mobility & Immigration

    • Help shape and iterate on global mobility policies and programs, including permanent transfers, international assignments, and expat support.

    • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other teams on cross-functional mobility initiatives (e.g., supporting distributed teams, expanding into new regions).

    • Maintain general knowledge of global immigration processes and provide thoughtful coordination between mobility and immigration workflows.

    • Deliver empathetic, high-touch support during complex or time-sensitive transitions.

  • Data & Reporting

    • Provide regular reporting and insights on mobility volumes, satisfaction metrics, and vendor performance.

    • Support system and process improvements related to global mobility tools and integrations.

    • Monitor mobility budgets, manage exceptions thoughtfully, and help ensure programs remain cost-effective and scalable.

We’re Seeking:

  • 4-6 years of experience in global mobility, relocation, or immigration, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong program management and vendor partnership skills.

  • A customer-first mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity with clarity and empathy.

  • Collaborative instincts and the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of building trust with stakeholders.

Workplace & Location

This role is based in our New York City office in order to help provide global employee support including across timezones in EMEA and the US. We offer relocation support to new employees, and we use a hybrid work model: three days in the office per week with optional work from home on Thursdays and Fridays.
