The Role

We are seeking a founding Engineering Manager to lead and bootstrap our newest team: Enablement. This team sits at the vital intersection of deep product innovation and the actual customer experience. Your mission is to ensure that the sophisticated features developed across B2B organization (X) are translated into a seamless and intuitive journey for our users. You will act as the champion for a complete and coherent product experience, bridging the gap between complex internal logic and the polished final result our customers interact with every day.

As the inaugural manager for Enablement you will take the lead in hiring and onboarding a brand-new team while establishing the operational rhythms that make them successful. You will partner with other engineering leaders to maintain our high standards for security and reliability, ensuring that every release meets the quality bar our customers expect. While your primary focus is on people leadership and team building, we are looking for a leader who stays close to the craft. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the codebase and participate in development as your team management and hiring priorities allow.

What you will do:

  • Hire and bootstrap a new team in Bengaluru to join our organization and collaborate with teams in Europe, Argentina, USA and Canada
  • Work in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment, working with talented engineers, managers and partners across Product, Security, Design, Architecture and QA to deliver features that delight our customers
  • Participate in the assessment and adaptation of engineering processes and best practices
  • Work closely with the team’s stakeholders to prioritize work, and provide context so team members can perform specific tasks
  • Run people and team management activities such as coaching, 1:1s, performance reviews, ceremonies, etc
  • Be responsible for your team’s health and delivery, and your reports growth and performance
  • Be hands on with our solutions (sometimes by coding, sometimes by reviewing or participating to architectural decisions)

What you will bring:

  • Overall 8 years experience with 3+ years of engineering management experience, with prior 4+ years of experience as an individual contributor
  • Experience leading a highly technical team and proficient at coaching teammates in all phases of their career
  • Experience building and/or leading teams building systems highly reliable, secure and scalable system
  • Know how to focus and unblock teams to achieve their goals
  • Work well with technical and non-technical people to deliver high-value results
  • Lead by example and be a great communicator
  • A systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
  • Ability to remain technical, being able to directly contribute to the development process outside of the critical path

Nice to have:

  • Identity Experience
  • Experience with Node.js, and AWS stack
  • Experience creating and maintaining public and secure APIs.
