Get to know Okta

Okta is The World’s Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we’re looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We’re building a world where Identity belongs to you.

The Team

You will join a distributed and diverse team of designers supported by leadership and subject matter experts, as well as design and research peers with whom you can collaborate and share feedback. You will also be part of a product team that includes Product Management and Engineering counterparts and will have direct ownership and impact throughout the product development lifecycle. We are looking for a designer that is a team player and works closely with engineers and product managers to solve complex problems at scale and what’s next for our authentication experiences. If you are a collaborative problem solver wanting to explore complex and impactful user experiences, this position could be perfect for you.

The Role

Over the past two years, we’ve built strong Bangalore-based teams that have made a measurable impact. Building on that success, we’re expanding design in India to create a more connected, collaborative, and influential design culture. This growth gives designers in India more ownership, closer collaboration opportunities, and a supportive environment to do their best work.

We’re hiring Senior and Staff Product Designers to join our Developer Experience teams at Auth0. These teams build SDKs, CLIs, dashboards, and design systems that empower developers and make authentication seamless at scale. As a designer here, you’ll shape how developers interact with our platform, from research and concepting through to polished experiences. Staff Designers also set standards, mentor peers, and influence strategy across teams.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Work Mode: Hybrid (2-3 days Onsite per week)

Note: "This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our Bengaluru, IN office during the first week of employment."

What You’ll Do

  • Design end-to-end experiences for SDKs, CLIs, dashboards, and developer workflows.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering on roadmaps, priorities, and delivery.
  • Build a deep understanding of developer needs and translate them into intuitive solutions.
  • Shape and evolve our design system, defining reusable patterns, components, and guidelines.
  • Partner with research and analytics to validate designs and measure impact.
  • Simplify complex workflows into elegant, scalable solutions.
  • Share work early, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
  • For Staff Designers: set quality standards, mentor peers, and influence direction across teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience designing for developer platforms, tools, or ecosystems (e.g., SDKs, CLIs, APIs, IDEs, or enterprise developer products).
  • Strong expertise in design systems—building extensible patterns and scalable frameworks.
  • Proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
  • Comfort collaborating with engineers and understanding front-end implementation.
  • Strong grasp of research methods and ability to use qualitative and quantitative data in design.
  • Curiosity about emerging tools, AI workflows, and new interaction patterns.
  • Autonomous, proactive, and able to drive ideas from concept through execution.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to align and advocate across functions.

Level-specific expectations:

  • Senior Product Designers (P3) – Lead design for a product area, contribute to multi-team initiatives, and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Staff Product Designers (P4) – Influence product strategy across multiple teams, set quality standards, and mentor others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in UX or Product Design, with a portfolio showcasing your work across various design stages and complexities.
  • Proficiency in design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Experience with open-source developer tools.
  • Background designing enterprise (B2B) or dashboard products.
  • Strong storytelling and advocacy for developer needs.
  • Familiarity with identity, security, or enterprise software.
  • Background in engineering or front-end development.
  • Experience scaling design systems in large product environments.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, distributed team
