Okta's Universal Directory (UD) is a powerful foundation for the Okta Workforce Identity Cloud. It includes fundamental concepts for creating and managing identities and defining how downstream applications handle authentication, authorization, and administration. We are seeking an experienced product manager with a platform product background who can skillfully translate customer requirements for Universal Directory into new platform components that Okta should build to deliver end-to-end customer value. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, design, marketing, and other product teams to lead the core UD platform team at Okta
You will be responsible for:
- Driving the roadmap for Universal Directory primitives: Collaborate with other PMs to drive the roadmap for Universal Directory that aligns with the company vision and direction.
- Technical knowledge: Understand the nuances of objects stored within our directory, how they are organized and used, and how they should be organized and used.
- Understanding key customer requirements and integration use cases across Okta: Collaborate across product teams, predict future scenarios and needs ahead of others, and creatively handle customers' needs. As the owner of a platform product, you must have the insight to foresee and predict the impact of a broader range of customer scenarios.
- Executing on highly technical products: Collaborate with engineering and design to ship features that require a deep understanding of the customer's technical complexities. Take these needs and creatively develop technical proposals to address them.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Roadmap and Vision
- Set product strategy and direction for Okta Universal Directory
- Define and drive execution of the long-term product roadmap
- Evangelize vision to other product teams, engineering teams, sales teams, and customers
Feature Delivery and Execution
- Work with your scrum team to deliver features on time and on-target
- Regularly ship features that unlock key use cases
- Collaborate with design to specify experiences that delight customers
- Prioritize UD platform investments among multiple business objectives
Customer Engagement
- Engage with customers to deeply understand their challenges
- Stay close to customers during beta programs and ensure that feedback is incorporated into the product
Competitive Understanding
- Work with technical marketing and sales to deeply understand the competitor landscape
- Keep your finger on the pulse of market changes and understand where trends are heading
Own the Product
- Maintain customer success-focused thinking: always work to unblock sales and help customers through issues
- Be responsive to supporting the field on critical asks and customer needs
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of product management or related experience
- Experience across the product management lifecycle for enterprise products or services
- Excellent communication skills (presentation, verbal, and written)
- Strong leadership skills and presence
- Track record of successful delivery of company-critical projects
Preferred:
- Knowledge of identity or access management
- Experience in leading platform products
- Experience with developing multi-tenant SaaS services
