The CIAM Specialist has a robust DevOps background and is passionate and knowledgeable about Customer Identity. In this role, the CIAM Specialist will be a technical expert who can engage with Okta's broader field team and breadth of technical influencers in our customers to help them address their identity management challenges, driving a clear technical preference for Okta's offerings.

This individual will be the go-to CIAM Specialist, supporting the Benelux region. The CIAM Specialist will support and enable the field teams to execute today and grow to meet Okta's future needs. They will define and maintain a high bar for expectations and support the team in achieving them.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the Core SE and AE with highly complex technical engagements.
  • Lead Q&A sessions with prospective customers to understand their requirements.
  • Deliver interactive presentations and solution demonstrations to all levels of an organization.
  • Whiteboard solutions, modeling how Okta's IAM solution will support their current architecture requirements and use cases.
  • Execute well-defined, outcome-focused PoCs and PoVs.
  • Maintain a broad and deep technical understanding of the Okta Customer Identity Cloud product line and the underlying technologies and protocols.
  • Craft engaging solution content to position Okta's value across multiple business units, including software engineering, operations, product management, and business stakeholders
  • Support and encourage strong feedback loops between Solutions Engineering, Product, Engineering, Marketing and Professional Services organizations.
  • Stay current on industry trends through self-study, research, and online courses.
  • Proactive engagement in local and regional sales and marketing events
  • Work from home or in the office with up to 50% travel within the region.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 5+ years experience with Javascript or a similar language
  • 5+ years of experience with at least one backend stack (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby) or experience with a popular frontend stack (React, Angular)
  • 5+ years of experience working with REST APIs and SDKs
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and solutions, incorporating whiteboarding, practical examples, and product demonstrations
  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as consulting, support, teaching, or pre-sales
  • You're a natural at building relationships, listening, and managing time well.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!

  • Experience working in a Pre-Sales role as Sales Engineer or Solutions Engineer
  • 3+ years experience with at least one authentication or authorisation protocol (OAuth, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, LDAP)
  • Experience building web applications, incorporating both front and backend languages/frameworks
  • Mobile (iOS, Android) development
  • 5+ years of experience working with HTTP, HTML, and REST services. This includes using the dev tools in a browser to explain HTTP traffic and an HTTP client (like curl or Postman) to interact with an HTTP service.
  • Understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
