Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

Position Overview

As the Head of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing Okta’s strategy for creating an inclusive and equitable workplace. You will be responsible for developing and executing initiatives that foster a culture of belonging, support diversity at all levels, and drive positive change. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed diversity, inclusion, and belonging principles into every aspect of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead Okta’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish measurable diversity and inclusion goals, and regularly track progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Create, implement, and oversee programs and initiatives that attract, retain, and develop a diverse talent pool across all departments and levels.
  • Lead the development of training and educational resources to enhance cultural competence and promote awareness of bias and inclusivity.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to recruitment teams to ensure diverse candidate slates and inclusive hiring practices.
  • Organizational leadership of Okta’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to amplify their impact and promote engagement and belonging among our employees.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to develop training materials and help resources customized to user groups (individuals, managers, leaders, HRBPs, function-specific resources, etc.)
  • Center Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging in the Talent strategy and management
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, community groups, and industry networks to stay informed of best practices and industry trends.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the company's culture and practices to identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with communication and marketing teams to share successes, milestones, and ongoing initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and leverage data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for enhancing diversity and inclusion efforts.
  • Act as a thought leader and advocate for diversity, inclusion, and belonging both internally and externally, representing Okta at conferences and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Diversity & Inclusion, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in a leadership role focusing on Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives, preferably in technology.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a related field (Performance Management, Talent Management, HR Consulting, HR)
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful diversity and inclusion programs within complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of diversity metrics, benchmarking, and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate ideas into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Program Management experience with expertise in scoping, leading and delivering complex programs, as well as a proven track record of project management skills on conception and design through implementation, measurement and continuous improvement
  • Analytical mindset, capable of using data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative and inclusive approach to working with cross-functional teams and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive and complex issues with empathy and confidentiality.
  • Passionate about promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging, with a commitment to staying current on industry trends and best practices.
  • Certifications or training in diversity and inclusion-related fields are a plus.

Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:
$230,000$340,000 USD
The OTE range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:
$256,000$380,000 USD
