The Staff Atlassian Product Owner Opportunity
As a Product Owner and Jira Administrator within the Collaboration team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery of projects and maximizing the value produced by the team. You will serve as the customer proxy, responsible for understanding user needs, defining stories, and ensuring that the team's backlog is prioritized effectively. Additionally, you will take charge of maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of features and components developed by the team(s).
In addition to your Product Owner responsibilities, you will also be a vital part of the Jira Admin team, taking ownership of Jira instances and ensuring smooth operations. You will be the go-to person for all things Jira, offering support, training, and administration services to users. Your expertise will be crucial in setting up new projects, implementing best practices, and customizing Jira workflows to enable teams to work more efficiently and collaboratively.
What you’ll be doing
Product Ownership
- Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to understand user needs and business requirements.
- Define clear and comprehensive Scope Statements, Epics, and User Stories to drive effective development.
- Prioritize the team's backlog, considering business goals, customer feedback, and project dependencies.
- Create and maintain roadmaps to guide the team's development efforts and align them with strategic objectives.
- Ensure Stories meet the Definition of Done and comply with quality standards.
- Implement and own resource management solution Tempus.
Agile Expertise
- Utilize your strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and SAFe, to guide the team in Agile ceremonies and ways of working.
- Successfully lead and manage Product teams in an Agile setting while also considering Waterfall delivery initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative and transparent environment that promotes continuous improvement and empowers team members to excel.
Jira Administrator
- Take ownership of Jira instances, managing setup, configuration, and administration tasks.
- Provide training and support to new and existing users, including power users and Project Managers.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor project progress and team performance.
- Identify and implement appropriate Jira plugins to enhance the functionality and productivity of the team.
Customization and Automation
- Customize Jira workflows, schemes, and configurations to align with the team's requirements and streamline processes.
- Implement automations within Jira to reduce manual efforts and enhance overall efficiency.
- Act as a problem solver, addressing challenges and finding effective solutions to optimize Jira usage for the team.
What you’ll bring to the role
- 10+ Years proven experience in IT leadership within a complex global organization, ideally in business and technology delivery environments.
- Demonstrated success as a Product Owner in an Agile environment, with a solid understanding of Agile ceremonies and methodologies.
- Ability to handle both Agile and Waterfall delivery initiatives and adapt approaches accordingly.
- Proficiency in documenting Scope Statements, Epics, and User Stories for effective communication and collaboration.
- Extensive experience as a Jira Administrator, including setup, configuration, and administration.
- Strong expertise in training users and implementing best practices for Jira usage.
- Familiarity with Jira reporting and analytics to measure team performance.
- Knowledge of Jira plugins and ability to identify and implement solutions to meet specific needs.
- Capability to customize and automate Jira workflows to enhance team productivity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
