About the Team
The team this role will be a part of is the Legal Department at Nutanix, situated in the vibrant city of Bangalore. The mission of the Legal Department is to drive commercial success and growth for Nutanix by providing strategic legal advice, ensuring compliance, and protecting the company’s interests while enabling seamless business operations with customers and partners across the APJ region.
You will report to the Senior Director, Legal APJ, who is committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. This manager values open communication and ensures that team members have access to the resources necessary for success. The role will follow a hybrid work setup, allowing for a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration, with specific days designated for on-site presence as needed.
There are no required travel obligations for this position, allowing for a focus on the legal needs of the business from the local office without the necessity of frequent trips or travel commitments.
Your Role
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements to facilitate revenue-generating transactions.
- Work collaboratively with sales teams and cross-functional departments to minimize risks and protect intellectual property.
- Provide legal training to staff and manage relationships with external counsel.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with contract and regulatory requirements across projects.
- Develop and enhance legal templates and process documents to streamline operations.
- Act as a strategic business advisor, contributing to commercial success and growth goals.
- Engage in high-value commercial transactions while navigating a fast-paced international environment.
- Establish key strategic alliances in the APJ region to strengthen business relationships.
What You Will Bring
- 10-14 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law, both in a reputable law firm and in-house with a global enterprise technology company.
- Strong experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including NDAs, software licenses, and service agreements.
- Understanding of the APAC legal landscape and cultural nuances impacting commercial contracting.
- Proficient in SaaS, Cloud, and on-premise software licensing transactions.
- Excellent negotiation, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing effectively.
- Familiarity with revenue recognition rules, accounting standards, and privacy issues.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
