As a Software Engineer, Customer Experience is responsible for providing efficient platforms, workflows, and tools at scale for our internal customers in Finance, People, Neighborhood Operations and Sales & Marketing teams. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for building new applications or enhancements, integrating our platform systems with third party SAAS applications like Segment, Iterable, Salesforce, workday or building data pipelines into our data lake.

The Impact You’ll Make

As part of the Information systems team, you will play a pivotal role in defining, architecting, and building systems and features that enhance our internal infrastructure and tools to help our Neighborhood operations teams to ensure great member experience. You will also collaborate closely with the information systems team and product engineering teams to develop innovative tools, data pipelines, and integrations with other SaaS applications. Furthermore, you will design and build the infrastructure necessary to integrate our Ads platform with our backend systems (Salesforce and Workday), optimizing the order-to-cash process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Backend development in Python/Django, Go, SQL, AWS, Java, Kafka, and Kubernetes, as well as building pipelines/integrations between internal applications to external applications like Salesforce, Segment, Databricks, AWS, and Kubernetes
  • Assisting in the creation and review of the architecture that will take our team to the next level
  • Collaborating with Engineering and other leads to design and develop holistic and lean enterprise architecture to support Nextdoor's business needs
  • Partnering with IT and business stakeholders to understand requirements, develop strategies to meet architecture/technology needs
  • Responsible for tracking small to large initiatives from initiation through post-launch
  • Communicating regularly on program/project plans, progress, blockers, and risks to cross-functional stakeholders, sponsors, and vendors
  • Mentoring junior engineers, offshore team members within our team, and adjacent teams
  • Collaborating with product management and design to ensure we work on the right things in the right way
  • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values

What You’ll Bring To The Team

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
  • Strong fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Strong coding abilities in at least one language (Python or Java preferred)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic startup environment
  • Strong desire to learn about new technologies and systems
  • Experience within the AWS ecosystem

Preferred Skills:

  • Some frontend experience with JavaScript/React
  • Experience with Salesforce Integrations
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Swift, Java, or Xcode

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $180,000 to $260,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
