Introduction

As a Senior Statistician, you will contribute to the ongoing development of Optimizely’s Stats Engine and support customers in understanding statistical concepts related to experimentation. In this role, you will work closely with Staff Statisticians and the engineering team to help improve existing features and implement well-scoped enhancements. You’ll also collaborate with Data Scientists on applied research projects, particularly those involving optimization methods like bandit algorithms.

Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with senior team members to identify improvements in Optimizely’s statistical methods

Implement and prototype statistical models under guidance from senior staff

Validate statistical solutions using internal datasets

Work with engineering to support the integration and productionization of statistical improvements

Participate in exploratory analysis and development of well-established research directions

Communicate technical findings clearly to peers and internal stakeholders

Support debugging and analysis of statistical model behavior in production environments

Engage in team discussions, code reviews, and working sessions

Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment through peer support and knowledge sharing

Knowledge and Experience

In order to be successful in this role, the Senior Statistician should meet most of the following:

3+ years of applied experience in a data science or statistical modeling role

Proficiency in Python and familiarity with software development workflows

Strong grasp of core statistical concepts, especially as applied to A/B testing and experimentation

Experience implementing models or analysis pipelines that have been deployed to production

Familiarity with data querying tools and collaboration with data engineering teams

Understanding of version control tools such as GitHub or GitLab

Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly within cross-functional teams

Enthusiasm for learning and growing within a collaborative team environment

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
