Job Responsibilities
- Influence Strategy & Roadmap: Can rely on breadth of product experience and analogs to aid in decision making in ambiguous situations; typically handling the more complex projects and products. Significantly contributes to setting strategic direction.
- Expertly translates broad company strategies into specific priorities and objectives for their team
- Effectively lead team(s) to execute against strategy
- Actively watches for needed adjustments to strategy and raises them
- Deliver Products and Drive Usage: Holds self, direct reports and teams they work with accountable to significant impact on and department performance; undeniable impact on business performance
- Takes ownership of execution and defines the structures the team and organization need to deliver on the desired outcomes
- Collaborate and Communicate: Consistently trusted to prepare and deliver coherent, highly credible, impactful and engaging written communication & presentations, effectively adjusting level of detail depending on audience, i.e. executive level highlights vs. details for other stakeholders
- Expertly and collaboratively negotiates ambiguous situations and drives to rapid decisions
- Is a thought leader with an external presence; communicates externally as a Product expert, either in publications or at events
- Communicates a compelling vision and sense of purpose for current- and long-range Opti product direction and company impact
- Communicates more regularly with senior management and executives
- Regarded as a key influencer across the company and able to communicate complex topics at the appropriate detail for the intended audience
- Be a Resilient Leader: A visible leader for company & department strategy that inspires confidence in all stakeholders
- Has a multiplier effect on Optimizely. Actively sought out by other leaders for advice.
- Actively leads changes that enhance Product & ADEPT effectiveness
- Proactively seeks opportunities to bring others along and help them understand product strategy, shifting priorities, or hard trade-offs (leads the charge)
Knowledge and Experience
- Typically 7+ years product experience, or 5+ years product experience with extensive experience with Optimizely (internal transfer or as a customer)
- Leads the charge in refining the practice of product management at Optimizely.
- Work consistently extends beyond their core area of responsibility
- Plays a key role in helping ensure Product Development overall meets strategic corporate milestones in the fastest and most effective way possible; Deftly manages even the most complex products and workstreams
- Market Awareness: Sets plans to target and win with ICP(s) in face of competitors. Is relied on for market knowledge throughout the organization.
- Business Expertise: Expert business knowledge. Nuanced perspective on product success within the business and sharing it with teams and leadership
- X-Functional: Leads initiatives, but also makes prioritization decisions between proposed initiatives. Coaches others on leading initiatives. Can see the broader picture and loop in teams/resources for x-functional initiatives that may not have been previously identified.
- Metrics/Data: Uses data beyond the product area (cross-Opti and market) to make decisions about longterm roadmap and to adjust strategy to meet shifting deamnds and competitive realities.
Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
