Natron Energy is seeking an EHS Engineer to join our team in Holland Michigan. This position will report to the Director EHS and have the primary responsibility of time analyzing risks, designing safety systems, developing procedures, and conducting technical assessments to identify risks within or manufacturing facility.
This person has prior experience as an EHS engineer in establishing and maintaining EHS and workplace safety programs for an organization that operated electronics and/or chemistry labs. He or she has the prior experience and communication skills needed to coordinate effectively with local AHJs. The person for this position cares about building a safety culture and a company that is functionally successful, not merely in regulatory compliance.
- Promote a safety culture and health protection among supervisors and employees. Help to reduce the number and severity of occupational accidents and to reduce the disabling effects of workplace.
- Proactively and systematically lead job hazard analysis and hazard assessments to identify loss potential of our systems and processes as well as recommending appropriate corrective actions
- Train associates, supervisors, and other employees in the areas of general safety and environmental awareness, specific program requirements and specific job requirements.
- Proactively, evaluate chemical hazards, develop safety data sheets and conducti ergonomic assessments.
- Manage the documentation required for the occupational safety and health protection.
- Organize first aid, emergency medical care and fire protection.
- Coordinate with senior leadership on EHS programs including training, audits, and compliance.
- Serves as the reference person with the state of the Michigan and authority regarding EHS
- Coordinate with local AHJs during permitting, inspections, and audits.
- Coordinate with contractors for training, inspections, and hazardous materials.
- Maintain EHS related databases including training records and SDS database.
Experience & Skills:
- 3+ years working as a EHS professional in an industrial environment that included at least one of chemical production/processing or high-power electronics development and operation.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an engineering field, preference to electrical or chemical engineering or related fields.
- Knowledge of local and national codes and standards for OHS and other workplace safety requirements.
- Knowledge of chemical safety hazards and safety risks analysis (HAZOP, etc)
- Prior experience acting as their employer’s primary representative to local AHJs and EHS-related contractors for employee training, hazardous waste disposal, etc.
- Strong verbal communication skills and temperament that allows successful coordination with senior leadership and the ability to establish and maintain compliance by employees.
- Proficient with MS products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Preferred: membership in EHS professional associations and/or active licenses/certifications in EHS programs.
Compensation/Pay Transparency:
- Base Salary is determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data, and other legitimate business reasons, including, but not limited to, compliance with applicable immigration law prevailing wages.
