Location: Hybrid (Spain) We have offices in Madrid, Barcelona, and Villena and work in a flexible hybrid environment. We want to create a collaborative experience and encourage in-office time. For this role, we are aiming to hire in one of our hubs based throughout Spain.
Overview: Luzia AI, the fastest-growing AI consumer company in Europe, is seeking for our first backend engineer focused on our data stack. With over 30 million users acquired in under 12 months and a successful recent funding round, we are on a mission to bring Luzia, a friendly, multifunctional personal assistant, to everyone. This product is designed to organize, simplify and enrich everyday life through features ranging from managing calendars and answering questions to providing learning experiences and simplifying everyday tasks. As the first data focused engineer, you'll have the opportunity to design and build systems that have a huge impact on our customers and our business.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and product managers to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Implement best practices for data ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the platform.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes to support various data workflows.
  • Create and manage data warehouses and/or data lakes.
  • Perform data modeling to support analytics and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data issues and system performance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually improve the data infrastructure.
  • Help define our Data Platform strategy.
  • Prepare for future expansion into advanced data analytics, machine learning, and other data-related projects.

Requirements

  • More than 4 years of experience as a data engineer or a similar role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their data services.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environmentFull professional proficiency in English. Spanish is a plus.
