What You'll Do:

  • Oversee all Controllership function responsibilities: monthly close, revenue accounting, order to cash, GL reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll, treasury functions, and compliance activities (federal/state/local tax compliance audits, insurance and benefit administration).
  • Serve as the primary owner and liaison for our year-end audit in partnership with external auditors and researching technical accounting and compliance issues
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities and provide financial guidance to the executive team, partner with Finance & Strategy and key business stakeholders with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Define, develop, and implement best in class processes, leveraging the capabilities of existing systems and support tools to drive quality, scale, and productivity across monthly close, financial reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to help articulate internal product requirements and implement new tools to reduce manual input, increase accuracy and deliver an enhanced customer experience.
  • Be a key contributor when onboarding new products, understanding flow of funds and best practice implementation efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally to shape commercial contract terms and opine on revenue recognition impacts, ensuring ASC606 compliance while optimizing terms.
  • Build, manage, and mentor an effective accounting team, including driving performance and coaching the team.

Who You Are:

  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Public accounting experience with a “Big 4” firm preferred, active CPA preferred
  • Experience in high growth startups; payments, fintech, or benefits tech industry experience
  • History of scaling and process improvement for finance and accounting operations
  • Strong technical accounting skills (US GAAP) with demonstrated ASC 606/revenue recognition and consolidation experience
  • Proven ability to hire, manage, and mentor high-performing teams; experience in leading a global accounting team with an international presence is a plus
  • Skilled communicator with a leadership presence; able to influence and shape favorable business outcomes
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment with creative methods to boost productivity and clear communication
  • Extremely detail-oriented and delivers the best internal and external customer service with timely, accurate, and thorough responses
  • Excited to work with a distributed team
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets, Netsuite, Salesforce; SQL and Looker experience a plus

This position has a minimum base salary of $170,000 and a midpoint base salary of $185,000. The base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards.
