About the role: As a Senior Engineering Manager at Kiddom, you’ll have the opportunity to lead multiple teams of (3-5) talented engineers while driving meaningful, transformative work in the K-12 education space. This role combines technical leadership with strategic impact, allowing you to shape Kiddom’s systems and processes to scale our business. You’ll work with modern technologies, including Python, Golang, Node.js, JS/Typescript, Kubernetes, and AWS, while solving challenging technical problems that directly impact educators, administrators, and students. You will have the ability to motivate and inspire change across the entire engineering organization as we adapt to new technologies and AI capabilities that make us and our users more efficient. This role reports to our VP of Engineering Tim Catlin.
This role can be based in NYC or San Francisco and requires 2-3 days in office.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in people management leading multiple teams of 3-5 engineers, including hands-on technical management.
- Ideally experience with: (Golang, Python, Node.js, JS/TypesScript)
- Expertise in running small teams using agile techniques is essential, along with the ability to mentor, delegate, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- You are strong in balancing priorities and making thoughtful decisions to meet immediate technical needs.
- You are able to participate in architecture and product discussions with engineers, product managers, designers, and AI researchers contributing to informed decisions.
- You have a proven track record of shipping quality products on time.
- A customer-centric mindset and will apply that to building out platform services and features.
- You are highly organized and thrive in fast-paced environments with a structured approach to team operations.
- You can provide objective feedback, supporting individual and team growth.

Bonus Points
- Experience with internationalization, accessibility, and web standards in the edtech space.
- Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD tooling, and automated frontend testing.
- Open-source contributions or technical writing/teaching in frontend engineering.
Salary range is dependent on geography, past experience, seniority, and demonstrated role related ability during the interview process.
