Overview
The Business Systems team at Instacart is transforming Salesforce into a governed, code-first, AI-enabled engineering platform that powers Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support. We’re seeking a Senior Salesforce Developer to lead the modernization of our Salesforce ecosystem - driving scalable, secure, Apex-based architectures; embedding AI-augmented development and automated SDLC practices; and establishing enterprise-grade engineering standards across the platform. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on building robust systems and shaping our long-term Salesforce strategy.
About the Job
- Own the transformation to a code-first Salesforce architecture. You’ll lead the migration from low-code automations to a governed, Apex-based services framework—designing Domain, Service, Selector, and Unit of Work layers that power scalable, enterprise-grade solutions. This is a foundational modernization effort with real architectural influence.
- Build AI-augmented engineering workflows. You won’t just write code—you’ll help redefine how it’s built. From integrating tools like GitHub Copilot and Salesforce Einstein for Developers to shaping AI-driven CI/CD pipelines, you’ll play a key role in embedding automation and intelligence into our SDLC.
- Design secure, compliant systems at scale. You’ll develop high-performance Apex and Lightning Web Components with strict security, testing (90%+ meaningful coverage), and governance standards—partnering closely with Security and IT to ensure audit-ready, resilient systems.
- Architect complex integrations and data flows. You’ll build and optimize real-time and batch integrations (REST, Platform Events, CDC), working cross-functionally with Data and RevOps teams to support large-scale migrations and business-critical workflows.
- Lead in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This is a hands-on senior role with end-to-end ownership—from architecture through deployment and support. Priorities will shift, systems will evolve, and ambiguity is real. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy driving clarity in complexity, mentoring others through change, and building durable systems in a high-growth environment.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, with deep expertise in Apex (triggers, controllers, async jobs), Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, and Aura, and a proven ability to design and implement scalable, code-first architectures using consistent design patterns.
- Strong experience modernizing Salesforce environments, including replacing low-code automations (Flow, PB, WFR) with robust, testable Apex solutions and building secure, resilient enterprise-grade systems.
- Advanced integration and platform expertise, including REST/SOAP APIs, async/event-driven patterns, middleware, Salesforce APIs, and enterprise integration frameworks.
- Proficiency in modern development practices, including SFDX, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, SDLC automation, version control, secure coding practices, and Salesforce Shield.
- Salesforce Developer II certification (required), along with demonstrated experience leading development initiatives, mentoring engineers, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in solution or application architecture within complex enterprise environments.
- Experience leading large-scale automation modernization initiatives (e.g., Flow → Apex migrations).
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Codeium, Einstein for Developers, OpenAI-based code generation, or AI-driven static analysis.
- Salesforce Architect certifications (Application Architect, System Architect, Integration Architect).
- Experience with CPQ and/or CLM implementations.
