Overview

About the Team

The Senior Financial Analyst will be part of the Instacart Growth & Ads Strategic Finance team, playing a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for future growth. You will be a key business partner to the Connected Stores team: ushering the new age of technology enabled grocery shopping while partnering with BD, product, operations, data science, engineering, legal, tax, and accounting. Your responsibilities will include supporting monthly forecasting, P&L ownership, GTM/deal reviews with leadership and key stakeholders, and conducting other ad hoc analyses.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will operate at all levels, from granular details to big-picture strategic considerations. Leveraging your exceptional analytical skills, you will make strategic and investment recommendations based on rigorous data-driven decision-making.

About the Job

  • Partner with Connected Stores leadership and cross-functional teams, primarily BD, product, operations, data science, engineering, and accounting.
  • Establish a monthly forecast review process, support strategic long-range planning, and own ad hoc projects including financial modeling. Enable more informed business decision-making via quantitative analyses (e.g., ROI, payback, opportunity sizing, and NPV analysis).
  • Collaborate with teams to set deal terms that align incentives across all stakeholders, while maximizing value and mitigating business/financial risks.
  • Develop, monitor, and provide deeper insights into the P&L and business results to improve unit economics, track/report key metrics, and manage the forecast/budget

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Economics, Finance, Business or other related field
  • 4-6 years work experience in a relevant field with demonstrated financial acumen and a track record of leveraging data for business impact
  • Highly proficient in advanced Excel / Google Sheets modeling with strong attention to detail and ability to build complex financial models
  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to use data to identify and quantify growth opportunities or profitability improvement
  • Evidence of strategic thinking around complex business issues, leading to recommendations and action plans, specifically in ambiguous environments
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, consulting, or Strategic Finance/FP&A at a high-growth technology company
  • Experience with marketplace, ads, hardware, and/or enterprise SaaS businesses is strongly preferred
  • Advanced SQL and data visualization knowledge
  • Polished communication skills and comfort working with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership
