Inkitt is building the Operating System for Storytellers, standing at the forefront of technology and entertainment.
Leveraging AI and predictive algorithms, Inkitt discovers unknown stories and turns them into blockbuster hits, producing a new $1M ebook every 7 days and selling directly to consumers through its Inkitt Galatea app. Bestsellers are then translated onto the screen through Inkitt CandyJar, the #1 US-based microdrama platform with billions of episodes streamed to date, and Inkitt Ironblood, the world's first streaming app for superhero, sci-fi and action stories.
Inkitt has become the 11th most bestseller-generating publisher in the world, boasting a 40x higher hit-rate than traditional publishers.
Backed by some of the top VC’s such as: Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, our recent expansion into Ironblood, the first AI Native streaming platform for action and adventure, is only the beginning of our journey to becoming the next-gen entertainment powerhouse.
About the Role:
You will help shape the Galatea story catalogue across 10 local markets, working on how stories are sourced, scheduled and priced. We want someone who has started things, taken them to launch and can show the result in users, revenue, catalogue size or cost.
The work spans editorial, growth, partnerships, operations and data, and you will work closely with our marketing, product and editorial teams. People who have only done one of these, such as pure editing or pure marketing, will find the role too broad. People who have worked across several of them, at pace and with lean resources, will find it a good fit.
What You’ll Do:
Drive new initiatives to launch. Take projects from idea to launch, such as new content formats, sourcing channels, markets or production approaches, and measure them by their business result.
Collaborate with marketing on acquisition and retention. Work closely with the marketing team to use content for user acquisition and retention across paid and organic channels.
Collaborate with product. Work with the product team so the stories we publish, and how we package and price them, fit how readers discover and read in the app.
Support content partnerships. Identify opportunities to source content, or to partner with brands, publishers and authors, to create content that helps app growth and retention.
Turn data into content decisions. Analyze engagement, retention, conversion and revenue data, run experiments, and turn the results into recommendations on what to publish, promote and price.
Bring AI into our workflows. Help put AI and automation into production and creative workflows to improve cost, speed, quality and format innovation.
Improve production efficiency. Help build workflows that reduce production cost while keeping quality high, so content ships on time and on budget.
Work with creative teams. Collaborate with the writers' room and editorial teams so creative output reflects what readers respond to, and help build a culture where data and creativity work together.
Adapt to each market. Help tailor content to each of our 10 local markets so stories resonate culturally while meeting a global quality bar.
What You’ll Bring:
- A track record of launched impact. You have personally started something, owned it through launch and can quantify the result at business scale. Improving an existing channel or running a small pilot is not enough on its own.
- Professional experience in a media business: publishing, streaming, studio, creator platform, games, audio or a closely adjacent content business.
- Breadth. Hands-on experience across at least three of: editorial or creative, growth or marketing, partnerships, operations or production, data and analytics, people management.
- Speed and resourcefulness. Clear examples of delivering a lot, quickly, with little: shipping without a full team or budget, or iterating fast to a result.
- Strong analytical skills. You turn data into decisions and can show the outcomes.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator. You work well with creatives, marketing and product, and can explain complex ideas to both creative and analytical teams.
- Able to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days a week.
- Startup experience, ideally at an early stage (founding team, seed to Series A) or on something you started yourself.
- Hands-on AI or automation work inside a creative or production workflow.
- Experience writing or developing fiction, screenplays or serialized content.
- Experience in romance, fantasy or serialized fiction, or in short-form video.
- An MBA or advanced degree.
