Location: Remote, with occasional on-site work as mutually agreed
Commitment: Project-based, estimated 20-30 hours per week
Compensation: Hourly or project-based rate, commensurate with experience
About the Engagement
We are engaging an experienced Accounting Consultant to deliver independent accounting expertise on a project basis. The consultant will define and execute the approach to meet agreed deliverables, with outcomes focused on compliance, accuracy, and financial integrity. This is not an employment role; the consultant retains discretion over methods, schedule, and work environment.
Scope of Services
The consultant will be retained to produce deliverables that may include:
- Accurate and compliant financial statements, reports, and analyses.
- Month-end and year-end close documentation that meets GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Audit-ready materials and direct coordination with external auditors.
- Recommendations to streamline and enhance accounting processes.
- Updated accounting policies and controls aligned with industry and regulatory expectations.
- Completed tax filings and compliance-related reports.
The consultant will determine how to accomplish these deliverables using their own tools, methods, and professional judgment.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including project or consulting engagements.
- Background in medical device, diagnostics, or healthcare industry preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (Sage preferred) and advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Engagement Terms
- This engagement is structured as an independent contractor arrangement.
- Consultant is not an employee and will not be eligible for company benefits (healthcare, PTO, equity plans, etc.).
- Consultant will invoice for services and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses.
- Deliverables, timelines, and fees will be detailed in the consulting agreement.
