About the role

We’re looking for a Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment - someone who brings both structure and flexibility, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and has first-hand experience leading a company through its first financial audit. This is a unique opportunity to build and own the accounting foundation of a business that’s scaling rapidly, while also contributing strategically alongside executive leadership. This is a hybrid role working 3 days/week in our Pittsburgh, PA office in the Robinson Township area.

This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and offers strong visibility across the business. You’ll play a key role in shaping how we bring accounting operations fully in-house, ensure audit readiness, and lay the groundwork for scalable financial processes and reporting.

The Controller will also provide insights that influence broader business decisions, and will have direct exposure to FP&A!

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the company’s accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and smooth month-end and quarter-end closes while setting the standard for financial excellence.
  • Lead the company’s first financial audit, driving preparation, coordination, and communication with external auditors.
  • Contribute to company-wide financial strategy, ensuring accounting processes align with business goals and growth plans.
  • Develop and document revenue recognition policies and accounting procedures in line with GAAP.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems (currently QuickBooks Online) and recommend tools to support future growth.
  • Manage cash flow, banking operations, and reconciliations with precision and reliability.
  • Oversee outsourced tax partners.

About you

  • Proven track record owning or supporting the accounting function and setting up frameworks in a high-growth or early-stage environment (healthcare or SaaS experience a plus).
  • Direct experience leading or managing a company’s first financial audit with the ability to provide recommendations and guidance.
  • Deep expertise in GL management, revenue recognition, audit preparation, and month-end close processes, with a proven ability to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
  • Strategic thinker who enjoys collaborating cross-functionally and can balance detail orientation with business judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present insights across the business.
  • Bonus points for prior experience transitioning accounting functions in-house.
  • CPA: nice to have, not a requirement.

In particular, we offer:

  • Flexible work hours and flexible paid time off
  • Generous parental leave
  • Comprehensive healthcare, vision and dental benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity stake

We’re backed by forward-thinking investors committed to transforming healthcare, including Bessemer Venture Partners, First Round Capital, LRV Health, Khosla Ventures, Maverick Ventures, 1984.vc, and Character.
