Hermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
As an Operations Manager, you will play a central role in scaling our operational infrastructure—connecting engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program teams to ensure we deliver hardware and systems with speed, quality, and precision. You will build processes from zero to one, streamline workflows as we grow, and eliminate barriers that slow down execution. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is deeply operationally minded, and can drive alignment across highly technical teams.

Responsibilities

    Operational Leadership
  • Own day-to-day operational cadence to support engineering, production, and program teams.
  • Identify blockers early, prioritize critical path items, and drive timely issue resolution.
  • Build and optimize workflows for hardware receipt, kitting, and material movement.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms that enable rapid decision-making and track shifting priorities in real time.
  • Cross-Functional Execution
  • Partner closely with engineering and production to translate development needs into actionable operational plans.
  • Work with supply chain to manage material readiness, safety stock, and procurement timelines.
  • Coordinate with production, test, and integration teams to ensure resource alignment, smooth handoffs, and transparent communication.
  • Maintain a pulse on progress across multiple workstreams, escalating risks before they impact schedule.
  • Process + Systems Development
  • Build scalable processes for planning, logistics, material flow, tooling, and configuration management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives rooted in data and first-principles analysis.
  • Implement lightweight but effective systems for scheduling, documentation, and workflow tracking.
  • Program + Schedule Support
  • Support product owners in building schedules, identifying critical risks, and driving schedule adherence.
  • Prepare and deliver status updates to leadership with clarity, structure, and technical depth.
  • Ensure the right information gets to the right people at the right time.
  • Site + Facilities Operations (as applicable)
  • Oversee facility readiness, including workspaces, labs, integration areas, and test environments.
  • Partner with EHS to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations as our footprint expands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, supply chain, business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, production, supply chain, program coordination, or similar roles—ideally in aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or hardware-centric environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cross-functional workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency with operational tools (e.g., Excel/Sheets, project management platforms, inventory systems).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with highly technical teams.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in fast-paced start-up or R&D hardware environments.
  • Familiarity with aerospace development processes, integration flow, or test operations.
  • Experience establishing processes from scratch and scaling them.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous challenges into structured operational plans.
  • Deep sense of ownership, urgency, and strong attention to detail.

Additional Experience

  • Operates with a “no blockers, no surprises” mindset.
  • Thrives in ambiguity and adapts quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Builds alignment across diverse technical and operational contributors.
  • Has a systems mindset—constantly optimizing how work gets done.
  • Maintains a strong bias for action; executes with precision and accountability.
